LA based band Goldenboy is on tour and hitting the Velvet Lounge on Wednesday (10/17).
Goldenboy is led by the supremely talented songwriter/guitarist Shon Sullivan who has been a staple in the LA area scene for years. Shon was a member of Spain when Elliott Smith recognized his talent and stole him away for his own band where Shon played for four years. And it was Elliott who nicknamed Shon “Goldenboy” and the name stuck, thus becoming the band’s name. Much of GOldenboy’s debut lp was written while Shon was on tour with Elliott, too.
Goldenboy will re-release their debut LP entitled Blue Swan Orchestra this October. The album, originally released in 2002 and hailed as a lush pop record, put Goldenboy firmly on the LA indie rock scene and established Sullivan as an extremely talented guitarist and a praise-worthy songwriter and took the band on tours with the likes of Bright Eyes, Grandaddy, Stephen Malkmus.
