Ted Leo and the Pharmacists played two sold out shows at the Black Cat this weekend. I was lucky enough to see them Sunday night, marking the 10-year-anniversary of their release of “The Tyranny of Distance.” The shows were filmed so if you got tickets you had the chance to star in an official Ted Leo concert film, and if you didn’t keep your eye out for its release. The group aimed to please, playing songs that spanned their entire career, including a final performance of the “Tyranny” LP. Ted Leo had the crowd mesmerized with his vocals, belting out in high notes that competed with the drummer’s cymbals. The indie punk rock and dub fusion is just the kind of amp we need to keep the most powerful city in the nation going. I think we’re all ready for another work week now.
